Now that I'm officially unemployed as of today, I'm looking for avenues for advertisement, getting the product name out there, blogs that might want to review my product, local craft shows or stores that might be interested - you name it. This is a big ol' scary situation, and I'm looking for all the resources I can get so I can stay positive about it!!!
Watching the squirrels outside has only gotten me so far today. :-)

I'm so sorry to hear that, it's really scary at first. We were in your shoes less than a year ago. Great places to look for craft fairs is your local paper, county parks, pop-warner leagues, high schools, chambers of commerce. Its fair season so you could end up being super crazy busy! Lots of blogs run affordable advertising with good traffic, one such (which we both read is Joanna's Soap bar), theres also wickedly chic too. If you've been on etsy a while you probably get a lot of emails with people asking to do a product review, choose maybe one or two a month, they work as both good press for your company, and directing more traffic/sales to your shop. I wish you all the best..and think I'm going to try some lip balm..they look nummy!

I would definitely try some craft shows, maybe even some wholesaling in shops that you feel your product *fits* into. Become more active on Etsy if you're not already (relisting, forums, etc), keep blogging, and hand our business cards to anyone and everyone. And good luck!

I stumbled across your etsy listings and LOVE the look and descriptions of your products. A GREAT way of getting your products out there is threw youtube. The bath and body product review videos are very popular right now. Type in www.youtube.com's search "handmade soap review" or "soap haul" and you will find thousands of people purchasing items and doing reviews or the more popular tubers have products sent to them for free and they do reviews. Haus of Gloi, Mad Hatter, BPAL are just a few soapers who have alot of review videos on youtube. I can sit for hours watching the haul videos. I would choose someone who has at least 1000 subscribers then contact them and ask them if they would review your products. Most are more than happy! You will know the ones that do reviews. They actually post e-mail address for anyone interested in having there products featured on a video. Ince someone does a review you will get contacted by alot of people who want you to send products to review. Just be selective in who you send stuff too. Make sure they have a good following of tubers.
I wanted to ask (if you dont mind) What software do you use to create your labels. They are sooo interesting! I too make bath and body items but I just cannot make a good label and I think I want to invest in a good program.

Wow - THANK YOU. Although I'm a bit mad at you now because I just spent SO MUCH TIME ON YOUTUBE!!! Ha ha. That is definitely something I'm going to look into asap.
I think blogs are a GREAT resource. I put a little poll on my blog the other day asking if people have bought things after AI reviewed them and I can't believe how many people said yes! My blog isn't big or anything and at least 30(unique IP addresses) people said they have or about to! I honestly thought like it would be like 4 people. But I know I always google something I am thinking about buying to see what bloggers are saying about it because they usually are the most honest.
I am very sorry you lost your job. It is scary and rough wondering when you will get steady paycheck again. My mom who is a crafter by trade does all her business online and she has been really into twitter and facebook lately. She posts sales and offers and new products on both those places and she has been getting much more business with it. She started adding customers to her facebook page (instead of only friends) and word of mouth just keeps going.
