Obscura Antiques and Chili

I have a little cold. Just what I need. BUT as I was lying on the couch flipping through channels, I came across a gift, a godsend, an AMAZING piece of television that I have to share with you all. The show is called "Oddities" and it's all about this phenomenal store call "Obscura Antiques" out of NYC. I suppose it's better I'm on the other side of the country because I would be like a kid in a candy store - there would be no money left for rent or any other pesky bills. I would be living as a squatter in some abandoned warehouse surrounded by ventriloquist dummies, insects, bones, and taxidermy. Now that I mention it, doesn't seem so bad......... Anyway, please go visit their website and blog..... and don't forget to watch the show every Wednesday night @ 9pm on the Science Channel!!!

I want.....nay, NEED....to make some chili. I'm really tired of my recipe. Do any of you have one you'd like to share? It would be much appreciated!!!

That's all for now. I'm not quite back to myself. Maybe after these holidays are over, I can get back to normal life and begin to heal.

Love,  Lysa

I saw the commercial for this show but haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Sounds like a must see!

I like the Flatlander Chili recipe from Allrecipes.com (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Flatlander-Chili/Detail.aspx). I've been using it for a few years now since my favorite chili seasoning is no longer made. I use ground chicken instead of beef and like to use a mixture of beans (black, kidney, great northern).

Hope you get to feeling better.

I so totally didn't need to see this; the city isn't that far away. I could be there and back during school hours, so I could shop kid-less. I'm going to try to put this out of my mind now ^___^ But seriously, it looks amazing. I hate NYC (I know, I know, I can't help it) but this little shop might just get me to go down. I'll fer sure let you know if I do!!

I've been watching that show for about 3 wks. or so now - love it. The customers are so unusual-it's really a fun show.

I am so sorry for your loss. Please take care of you - xoxo

things like this make me wish I never lived there because NY is saturated with little shops like this. Everywhere you go, there is a slice of heaven to be had. Every single neighborhood (and there are hundreds!) has a few unique holes in the wall shops that have treasures beyond belief and everyday I didn't leave my apt. to discover the world was a day I missed out on something new.

That was one of the reasons I always got out of my home. Other than the apt was claustrophobic. Space is spare. Spendy!

Unless someone is paying your way or you have money to begin with or are making a good living, living in nyc is a hard life. The space where you live and where it is can be rough or scary...

uh. I wrote another novel.

Love you Lysa!

You will find treasures wherever you go because you have the eye.

You know it.
