BOO! A 3-part entry........ and a contest

First, I would like to thank everyone who commented and gave me support during the last 2 weeks. I really needed it. Even thought I didn't respond, please know I read and appreciated each and every one. You guys made me feel like I wasn't so alone.

Now before I start crying again, on to business!

I'm listing one (and possibly 2) of the Halloween perfumes in the shop today - Saucy Jack - also one of the GEIST lip balms. From now until Halloween, there will be new stuff listed on a regular basis. Yay!

Also, I thought I would share a couple of my thrift store finds with you - 'cause basically I just can't help myself. No taxidermy this time, sadly.....

This is Hazel. I know, because it says Hazel on her back. :-) My two favorite things about her:  She's handmade (yes!) and SHE HAS NO FREAKIN FACE. I've placed her above my workstation to "watch" over me. I don't think the kids like her very much.

Then there's THIS guy:
I have a coffee cup addiction. It's really sad. From the cheezy (the rabbit that says "Some BUNNY Loves You) to... well.... please see my Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford mugs in a previous post!

What caught my attention first about this was the size... it's huge! Secondly, a huge mustache really tickles my fancy. No pun intended. :-)

And he  reminds me of something I can't quite put my finger on... I keep thinking it might my Monty Python illustrations.... maybe Yellow Submarine.... maybe Gulliver's Travels. I don't know, but I am completely smitten with him. And the best part? He's a left-handed cup! So unlike most of my others, when I use it, the face is where it should be.

Now if I could only find the "Hang In There" kitten on a coffee mug, my life would be complete.

---------------------------------------------------

Okay, now on to this contest thing....

I need you guys to leave, in le comment box, the ONE horror movie *or* ONE notorious person you would most like to see translated into fragrance. ( keep in mind, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Lizzie Borden and Jack The Ripper are already done ). Please no serial killers along the lines of Dahmer, Bundy, Gein, etc.

I will pick 2 winners, at random,  July 30th @ midnight (this means one of the kids will pull the winners out of a hat). They will receive a full size perfume of their choice from my shop.

Now - a couple things to remember:  If you are picked, that doesn't mean I will use your movie. It just means you were awesome enough to enter. If I use a movie from a person who doesn't get picked, well.... that's the whole point of this, I think. It's just all fun.

So c'mon - put your thinking caps on and leave some comments!

cool idea for a contest!

I think you should do Ju-on (AKA the Grudge)

or Shutter.

How about H.H. Holmes? A pioneer in American homicide, he was one of the first documented US serial killers. Plus, the man owned a hotel that had later been nicknamed his "Murder Castle". Anyone with a murder castle deserves a fragrance. :)

I think the Candyman legend fits fairly well. Esp. if there was some kind of honey scent (or flavor if its a lip balm). Certainly everyone remembers standing in a dark room, in front of a mirror, repeating those haunting words...

Candyman, Candyman, Candyman...

You guys are awesome!

Yay!

Rosemary's Baby, innocence, corruption, sex, satan, what more could you ask for?

The only other thing i can think of would be something inspired by Vincent Price. But I worship that man, so it's only natural that i'd want that

Dead Silence. I was actually torn between that and Darkness Falls because I love when they explain both monsters, but the creepy ventriloquist dummies disturb me more than the porcelain masked Tooth Fairy.

I actually own an old ventriloquist dummy. :-)

Night of the Living Dead- the original zombie movie.

I think I'm a little jealous that you have one. I couldn't when I was younger (my brothers were terrified of them) and now I can't seem to find any! Is yours a boy or girl?

I love the mug! It reminds me of the Pringles guy!

You should do a perfume inspired by Ginger Snaps!

BEST. WEREWOLF MOVIE. EVER.

That mug definitely reminds me the Monopoly Man!
But I can be wrong...
: p

For the perfume, I would say ASH from The Evil Dead!

I'm bringing back one from the late 80's. How about Angel Heart? It's classified more as a thriller than horror, but it scared the heck out of me. And it has great performances from Robert De Niro, Mickey Rourke and Lisa Bonet. Whatever happened to her?

I want to pretend this is my idea, but when I said to my 12 yo daughter, "What horror movie should be a perfume?" her idea was "Zombieland - it could smell like Twinkies!"

(Bear in mind, we are Australian and have never seen a Twinkie in person and have no idea whether they actually have a scent.)

Dorian Gray. I've always loved his character, don't know why. Maybe it has something to do with beatiful and yet oh so dangerous men...

not entering (because horror films freak me out), but curious whether saucy jack will be available as a sample?

Hazel the faceless girl is fantastic.

It's sooo hard to decide on just one horror movie, but I'm going with Carnival of Souls.

It makes me so happy to see people excited about this contest! It's going to be hard to choose. Sweet - keep em coming!

Answers:

Angel: My dummy is a Charlie McCarthy. You can see him in my shop listing for 1891 perfume.. he's in the background. Loooove him so much, but I'm the only one in the house that does!

Dee: Your daughter is brilliant. Actually, they do have a smell, but no idea if I'd be able to capture it.

Kainstochter: It will! I am off to do that right now.

"The Lost Boys". Classic cult 80's biker vamps, cheesey one-liners, Death by Stereo, and Grandpa's classic Cucaracha Car of Chaos! A perfect time-capsule of all things 80's that's still going strong today. And with it's nifty tag-line, what's not to love?

"Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It's fun to be a vampire."

THE EYE (Hong Kong/Singapore horror) - Pang brothers' tale of a blind girl who undergoes a cornea transplant that leaves her seeing dead people..

http://www.imdb.com/rg/VIDEO_PLAY/LINK//video/screenplay/vi3941663001/

Most excellent movie! I highly recommend. Do not see remakes.

I agree with you, and cannot repeat enough: DO NOT SEE THE REMAKE. Jessica Alba may be "hot" by some standards, but holy crap can she ruin a horror movie.

Did you see the eye Asian style, Morbid Mama?

The Countess Elizebeth Bathory. Bathing in virgin's blood to keep young. What a novel idea!

Here in Scotland, we have quite a few to choose from! Duncan has suggested his Grandad - but i'm not sure anyone in the wider world would know of him, unless they happened to be walking beside the River Clyde on a misty night in 1953......(just kidding - I hope)!!

We have Sawny Beane, who was a cannibal who lured folk into his cave alongside his feral family who then dined on their victims unsuspecting flesh.....and then there was Burke & Hare (but that's two - so dunno if that counts).

As for films - 'Shallow Grave' which was shot in Edinburgh was quite nasty/kinda funny in places.....

(Ooh, and that latest mug you bought is a CORKER)!!

What about the Bride of Frankenstein???

or I remember watcing Mary Reilly the one with Julia Roberts...such a dark movie!!!!

How about Sweeney Todd..... the demon barber of Fleet Street.

Love the contest!

Not horror, but horrifying:

Soylent Green Are People (tag soylent green perfume for people) :)

I do love the Anne Rice novels - The Vampire Lestat or The Queen of the Damned for masculine/feminine scents.
